This Cookie Policy explains how Protochase, Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit Prototyper (the "Service").

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Service to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, and session management. You cannot opt out of these cookies as the Service would not work without them.

  • Authentication cookies - We use Supabase for authentication, which stores session tokens to keep you logged in.
  • Security cookies - These help protect your account and our Service from security threats.

Preference Cookies

These cookies are set only when you choose a setting, and they store that setting and nothing else. They contain no identifier, they are not read by any third party, and they are not used to measure anything.

  • theme - Records whether you chose the light, dark, or system appearance, so the page can render in it before it is first painted. Expires after one year.
  • sidebar:state - Records whether you collapsed the application sidebar. Expires after one week.

Analytics (No Cookies)

We do measure how the Service is used, but the analytics we run set no cookies and store no persistent identifier on your device. There is no analytics cookie here to accept or refuse.

  • Vercel Web Analytics - Counts page views and referrers across the site. It is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device and does not follow you to other websites.
  • Vercel Speed Insights - Collects page performance measurements, such as loading and responsiveness timings, from real visits. Also cookieless.
  • Product events - Through Vercel Web Analytics we also record a short, fixed list of moments: signing in, signing up, saving a change to your profile, and starting a checkout. These carry only categorical values - for example which sign-in method was used, or whether a checkout was for a personal or a team account. They carry no name, email address, account name, or free text.

Payment Cookies

When you start a purchase, our payment processor loads its own scripts and sets cookies to process the transaction and to detect fraud. These load only inside a checkout you have started; they are not present on our marketing pages.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. We do not control these cookies. The third-party services we use are:

  • Supabase (authentication and database) - sets the session cookies described above
  • Stripe (payment processing) - sets cookies during a checkout you have started
  • Vercel (hosting, web analytics, and performance measurement) - sets no cookies

Why We Do Not Show a Cookie Banner

We do not show a cookie banner and the Service has no cookie settings panel. That is a decision rather than an oversight, and this is the reasoning behind it:

  • Every cookie we set is either required for the Service to work at all - authentication, security, and payment - or stores a preference you chose yourself. Neither kind can be switched off without breaking the thing you asked for, so there is nothing for a consent control to gate.
  • Our analytics are cookieless and store no persistent identifier on your device, so there is no tracking to opt out of.

This is conditional, not permanent. If we ever add a service that sets a tracking cookie or stores a persistent identifier, we will ask for your consent before it runs, and we will update this page first.

Managing Cookies

The control that does exist is your browser. Most web browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. You can typically find these settings in the "Options" or "Preferences" menu of your browser. The following links may be helpful:

Because the cookies we set are the ones the Service depends on, refusing them will sign you out and may stop a checkout from completing.
