The Magic Patterns alternative built around your own agent.
Magic Patterns is an AI design tool that generates interactive prototypes from your real design system. Prototyper is a multiplayer canvas where the agent you already use builds running React screens next to the team’s sketches, wireframes and notes.

What Magic Patterns does well
Your real design system
Seed a design system from GitHub, an npm package, Figma or your website, and every generated design follows its rules, tokens, typography and components.
A full path in and out
Import Figma frames, export to Figma as a static snapshot, download the code, or keep a two-way GitHub sync on a paid plan. Designs can also be published to a hosted URL.
Built for team review
A real-time canvas for organizing and linking screens, live multiplayer, inline comments and read-only viewers. It also has an MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT.
Where Prototyper is different
Your agent is the builder
Connect Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another MCP client and it does the building in the workspace, on the subscription you already pay for. A built-in agent is there too.
Sketches and screens on one surface
Boxes, stickies, arrows and freehand drawing sit on the same infinite canvas as the running screens, so the idea and the build stay side by side.
Wireframes before the build
Ask for a screen and the agent can sketch at least three hand-drawn options first, then build the one the team picks as a working screen.
Free viewers
Reviewers join as free viewers, so the whole team can watch the work and the agent on the canvas without buying a seat.

Which one to pick
Pick Magic Patterns when
- Every screen must use your existing design system from day one
- Your team moves designs between Figma and code often
- You want a hosted link or a GitHub sync without extra setup
- You need enterprise controls such as SSO and SCIM
Pick Prototyper when
- You want Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to do the building
- Ideas start as sketches, stickies and wireframes
- You want three wireframe options before the first build
- Reviewers should join free and watch the work live
Close neighbors
Magic Patterns and Prototyper overlap more than most tools on this list. Both generate interactive React screens rather than pictures of them, both put those screens on a real-time canvas, and both let Claude Code and Cursor connect over MCP. If you are choosing between them, the differences are in emphasis, not category.
Magic Patterns puts the design system at the center: bring your components and rules, and the AI designs inside them, with a strong route into Figma, GitHub and a hosted link. Prototyper puts the agent and the canvas at the center: the agent you already use works in the workspace next to the team’s rough material and builds from it.
Where the AI sits
Magic Patterns has its own AI that generates and edits designs, drawing on monthly credits. Its MCP server lets external clients read designs and, with standard access, create designs, write files and publish, so your editor can work with Magic Patterns from outside.
Prototyper is built around that outside agent. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another MCP client connects to the workspace and lists, reads, writes and patches its files, runs commands and places objects on the canvas, with your own subscription paying for the model. The built-in agent covers quick edits in the browser.
Starting rough
Prototyper treats the rough stage as part of the work. The canvas holds freehand drawing, stickies and boxes, and the agent can answer a request with at least three hand-drawn wireframes that differ on purpose before it builds anything. The team argues about structure first and polish later.
Magic Patterns starts closer to the finished screen: a prompt, a Figma frame or a reference becomes high-fidelity UI in your design system. When the structure is already settled, that is the faster path.
What Prototyper does not do
Prototyper has no design system import, no Figma import or export, and does not host published apps. If the work has to match an existing component library from the first prompt, or end as a public link or a Figma file, Magic Patterns covers ground Prototyper does not.
What Prototyper offers at the end is code. On paid plans your agent exports the workspace’s real file tree over MCP, ready for your repository.
Using both
There is no direct import between the tools. To bring a Magic Patterns screen over, download its code or take a screenshot, drop it onto the Prototyper canvas and ask the agent to rebuild it next to the team’s sketches.
A split that works: explore on the Prototyper canvas while the structure is still moving, then rebuild the chosen direction in Magic Patterns when it has to match your design system or go out as a hosted link. Both tools speak MCP, so the same Claude Code setup can work with each.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Prototyper a Magic Patterns alternative?
- Yes, with a different center. Magic Patterns designs inside your imported design system. Prototyper is a canvas where your own coding agent builds running React screens next to the team’s sketches and wireframes.
- Can Claude Code work with both?
- Yes. Magic Patterns has an MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT. Prototyper’s MCP server gives your agent the workspace files and the canvas, so it builds there directly.
- Can I bring my design system?
- Into Magic Patterns, yes: from GitHub, npm, Figma or your website. Prototyper has no design system import; a connected agent can write your tokens and components into the workspace files and build with them.
- Can I move work from Magic Patterns to Prototyper?
- Not with an import. Download the code or take a screenshot, drop it onto the canvas, and the agent rebuilds it as a running screen.
- Is there a free plan?
- Prototyper has a free plan, and work done by your own connected agent runs on that agent’s subscription. Magic Patterns bills AI use in monthly credits; check its pricing page for current terms.
